Hello UB, I just found ya.... and speaking of things recently "found" or to be more exact "bought", I just picked up a 1998 ProGator 178V and I'm so far, very very happy with this ride.  I was about due an upgrade, as my last two boats were a '73 Skeeter metro, and then a '78 Hustler.  Tough as nails but slap worn out.

I've had this boat 2 weeks or so now, and, as I am a northwestern Louisianan, it has allready been on Caddo, Cross, Black Bayou Hosston, and Black Bayou/Cypress.

The 120 horse Force gets me going as fast as I want to, even with the wife and 2 kids in.

Of course, with a 10 year old boat, there are lots of little things to be ironed out, but it doesn't seem to have been abused too badly.  First decent bass to grace the live well came off Caddo last weekend while I had my kids bream fishing.   Top water disturbance made me drop the crickets and whip out a buzz bait.  Nice slot fish, er, actually it didnt make it to the live well.  Alas, it's time will come.  ;PHO)

Ah well, just a hello, and I'm glad I found these forums as they appear to be a treasure trove of information.

Welcome to the site Skillet & welcome to Pro Gator!

I have a 1999 Pro Gator 170DV with the 120 Force...knock on wood I haven't had any problems with the boat or motor so you should be worry free with yours! Then again...I am having problems with the carpet in mine...for some reason after 8 or 9 years, the darn carpet is wearing out!  ~roflmao Probably past time to replace it but I keep putting it off!

well, pulling in those lunkers can wear out the carpet for sure(or so I've heard  :P).  I saw in this post in the "for sale" that Russ178V mentioned that he had had his carpet replaced

I was going to ask him if he had had it done through Moores or used some other outfit to do it, and also the cost, but I haven't figured out how to pm on these boards yet.

I thank you for the welcome.  I have heard good things about progator so far, but have heard them described as "entry level" boats.  I have to assume that that applies to tournament level fishing ergonomics and features.  Further clarification is welcome indeed.

see you on the water!

Hey, Skillet, if you want to PM someone, just find their name, click on it, and you will go to their profile.  At the bottom it will ask if you want to send them a PM.  Good luck.
Doctor says I should stay away from other people.

Last night I was pulling up the bench seat and the entire piece of plywood that the seats are upholstered to came apart from the aluminum platform  :(  The seats themselves are fine, but the wood is soaking wet and near to rotting.  I'm drying it out now and will either try to water-seal it, or move to the more expensive plan b.  :-\

people who keep boats outdoors under fabric covers but let water pool on the cover don't rate too high in my book durn it.  Least this baby is properly indoors now.

Buddy's rig is 24' of mean with duel 150's. The thing that blew me away about them is that they are 2-stroke and you can't hear them running! Striper Bass beware of Captian Edd.  ;D
