I currently have a lowrance x-28 fishfinder that I need to replace. The transducer is 192 kHZ, but all the models I have found requires a 200 kHZ transducer. The one I have now is in-hull, how do I replace the transducer? What are the suggestions as to what I should do, Skimmer Transducer or In-hull Transducer?

Thank you

Jdaddy

Hello there m28ogie,
I think you posted your question in the wrong place, there is a different board called   Bass Boat Electronics,
and i'm sure you will get more answers.
Anyway, I'll try to help. I think you better off adding a new In-hull Transducer rather then taking the old one out unless its lose and not a problem to take out.
Get a good transducer that will work with your fishfinder and when you install it make sure there are no bubbles between it and the hull of the boat.
I'm using an in hull ducer and its great.

It will also help to know what kind of boat you are using, how fast will you go etc.

The thru hull transducers are good because they stay in the same postion all the time and don't require adjusting. I run a thru hull on the back and use it for driving, and can keep up with the depths at the top speed of my boat mid 50s.
You don't get the detail detail thru the hull for drop shoting and finding fish that you will get on the trolling motor or on the transom.
If I was only using one transducer I think I would mount it on the transom. Just make sure it is mounted as far away from the motor as possible.
