I just wanted to update everyone, especially those traveling north on Airline to fish Cypress or Black Bayou Reservoirs.  Construction has begun on the widening project, within the city limits.  Airline is supposed to be widened to 5 lanes all the way past Linton, maybe to Benton.  The city has a part and the parish has the rest.

At present, Airline is 35 MPH almost to Whimple Road (red light at the apartments).

You can always come out Benton Road to Kingston.  There is a red light at Benton and Kingston.  Turn right on Kingston and it will take you to Airline.

I will keep you updated as things change.

Another update on the construction.  If you are heading out Airline, once you pass under I-220....WATCH OUT.  There are buoy's everywhere...confusing...tough to stay in the boat lane.  (Mike, these buoy's are plastic so you want tear up anything if you hit one...  lo )  And if you are heading west on I-220 and exit at Airline, be aware that they have closed the little split that use to allow you to go north without going thru the red light.  Now "everyone" exiting goes thru the light and it backs up the traffic on the exit ramp...almost back to the interstate.  I don't see it improving for quite a while.  One suggestion would be to take Benton Road and cross over at Kingston.

I have to say I was impressed with the lay out of Bossier City. It is very easy to get around and it's close to 5 or 6 lakes which is awesome.

Oh...that's right...that would explain a lot of things then!  Thanks!  ;D

Well, we are slowly coming to the end of the Airline Drive construction.  The "city" part of the construction is complete and the "orange barrels" have disappeared.  The "parish" part looks to be getting very, very close.  It won't be long before Airline is 5 lane all the way out to Linton Road...quicker access to Cypress and Black Bayou.  ~c~

Thanks for the update mike...I noticed last time I went out there that you didn't have to change lanes every 100 yards.

ITS DONE....FINISHED....COMPLETE.  The orange barrels...orange barrels...orange barrels are GONE.  5 lanes all the way to Linton Road.  Just a word of caution...they did put in 2 new red lights, one at the Swan Lake intersection and one at the Kingston Road intersection.  But I think the 5 lanes more than make up for the 2 new lights.  At present, the speed limit is 45 and I don't see them raising it...too many subdivisions and businesses going up.

I went to Benton last night & it was all I could do to keep it around 45. That is way too slow! I know of several 2 lane roads with lots of curves that have a speed limit of at least 50.

Mike Noble

I agree that it is a bit slow...but a WARNING...on my way home last night there was one policeman sitting on the bridge just after the carwash and another a little farther up the road had someone pulled over.  So I am thinking that for a while at least...heavy patrols will be present.  PoPo
