Most of my friends use Fishing Hotspots Pro elite, but I have been looking at the map create kit, it seeems easier to update and more long term. Does anyone have both?

This is a question I was wanting to post too. what about navionics?

Mapcreate doesn't show lake contours etc only the outline of the lake similar to a road map.  You can download your waypoints from a Lowrance GPS to Mapcreate maps and they will show.  Navionics and Fishing Hotspots are chips that you load maps into your GPS that show lake contours and other info, different lakes and different products show different levels of detail.  For Lowrance GPS units, they have many Free Enhanced Lake Maps you can download to your GPS.

If you are just starting out and trying to decide what to go with, you can download a GPS Simulator at the Lowrance web site.  They have simulators for most all Sonars, GPS and Combo units.  You can then download the Free Enhanced Lake Maps for the lakes you are interested in and on your PC see what the maps show and how the GPS works.  Good tools to help you make up your mind.

I have the lowrance one and dad has the navionics I like the lowrance card better than the navionics card and cheaper not worth the extra $$ to me.

The MapCreateâ„¢ 7 software is compatible with Lowrance mapping GPS+WAAS products with digital media memory card (MMC/SD) capability. A variety of accessory pack options are available with the DVD-ROM software, including an LEI MMC/SD card reader/writer, one digital media card, and with or without a 12-parallel channel GPS+WAAS satellite receiver/antenna.

AM I reading this wrong, I thought you could take the enhanced maps from the web site and the software and store them on this media card then plug them into your gps card slot. :help:

I am confused, guess I need to try out the simulator.

You can download the Enhanced Maps and store them on the media card and then plug into GPS and load lake maps on GPS.  You don't need Mapcreate for that.
