Fished my son's company tournament Saturday. The late cold front dropping snow all over came through friday. Over slept and got to the launch at Pirates Cove 30 minutes late. Launched in 30 degrees and started across Toledo battling huge waves, spray and freezing, to fish the mounds where I had caught some good fish the week before.

Struggled about 3/4 of the way across, getting pounded by the waves, when my parnter says, "I left $1,500 of rods and reels in the back of the truck. So we turn around and get pounded all the way back to the launch.  Rods and reels were still in the back of the truck.

So now we decide to get smart, pull the boat out and trailer around, we miss the turn we are suppose to take so 50 minutes later we are  launching in the back of 6 Mile Creek.  Run to the mounds. Start fishing about 9:30.  Fish the area till 1 without catching a bass.  We see plenty of bass but can not get a fish to take anything.

Decide to run some place else, crank up and the motor is sounding funny so we just ease in to six mile and fish points for the hour we have left.  Catch 6, three are keepers.

Crank up and head for the launch. Every minute the engine is running it is sounding worse and worse.  By the time we reach the launch in sounds like someone is beating on it with a hammer.

Pull out, think about just going home, but since it is my son's company tournament we go to the weigh in.  Turns out the fishing was terrible everywhere. With a big bass of 2lb 15 oz and 3 fish weighing 6lb 7 oz we win big bass and first place.

Somehow we managed to get home with out any thing else going wrong.  Boat is already in the shop, now I am just waiting for the bad news phone call.

Thanks for the wishes. I do not know much about outboards but it sounded like a rod problem in a car.  At least it is still under warrenty.
