Thank you Todd, I did win the event over the weekend. How ever I will not except the crown just yet. You see, Steve took first for the year, Jimmy Choate took second and I took third. Now we made our classic tournament an open tournament for all the Springs club members to fish. Now there is the Classic champion, who has to be one of the top three.

Unfortunately, Jimmy could not make it to the tournament he had to work. So, I have requested that Steve, Jimmy Myself and one non- boater go out and settle the championship. I don't feel right taking the crown without all players being involved. So, I did win, but I didn't at the same time. I hope that Steve and Jimmy will agreed to settle it on the water at a time and place of our choosing.

The Springs Classic crown is very important and I felt it was important that all of the top three be involved to crown the champion for the year. I want to earn it, not just receive it. Trust me I fished my gusts out Saturday and Sunday and I could just take the crown and be happy, but it is not fair, and until it is I will not be happy. It has to feel right inside, before you can cherish the moment! ;D I hope all who read this will understand.

Troy,

Congrats, how you handle it from here is up to you.(as far as a rematch)  I appreciate the sportsmanship that you show, and that alone is worth more than anything.  I just wish we saw more of that around the clubs!  Its sad when somone wins and a few people don't to congratulate them and walk off and say that they were just lucky, Ive seen it happen and it makes me sick!  Hope you keep rolling on with the victories into Pueblo!!!

Congrats Troy.  Can I ask how many fish and what weight it took to win the tournament?  Are the results posted somewhere?

I had alittle over 5 lbs on Saturday and alittle over 6 lbs on Sunday. We had two one tourneys and Bobby Huffman took his first club victory on Saturday with alttle over 6 lbs. He and his brother are going to be hard to beat in the near future. I saw you and Bob Meniger in north shore on Saturday, hope you did well.

No the lake has not turned over yet. The is water is great, just the right amount of color to keep those fish shallow.

Mike,

The turn over usually happens when the water temp on the surface is colder than the water temp below the surface.  Usually it will happen around mid to late October, depending on the weather.

Troy, I like what you said about winning when all the best players aren't there. Just doesn't feel like a total sweep, does it? That is the competitive nature in us bass guys. When we do well, we want to do well against the best.

Wait until you win a few more or end up in the top more often. Not many congratulate you anymore. Not because they are bad sportsmen, as some would have you believe, but because they almost "expect" it of you. That just comes with the territory. You might hear, "Good Job" from a couple folks if your lucky, but it really doesn't matter. So keep on fishin' hard and doin well and know that they are watching, even if they didn't say a thing.   ~shhh

Thats right Joe, i couldnt agree with you more. What sucks is when a guy wins a tournament for his first time and nothing is said except that he was lucky. This happened at our classic this past year.  That to me is a poor way to show sportsmanship!!  Way to go Troy ~c~ ~c~ ~c~ ~c~
