The other day I was out on the water and ran out of buzz type frogs and the bobbys just weren't getting bit so I put together a KILLER snake rig and it has been getting more bites than anything out in the thick stuff.

All you need is a 4-6/0 ewg hook, a 10" power worm and a carolina floater head.  I rig the hook deeper than I would a texas rig (about 1" into the head) and skin hook it.  The floater head keeps the head up when you pause and the body sinks down like a real snake.  It also pulls through the thickest topwater stuff without hanging up.  I've seen bass come from several feet away and smack this thing.  Nothing wants it near them and will hit it without hesitation.  I was shocked at how much like a snake it looks when pulling it.

If you build a ramp...I will come...

There are some things you just do not tell :bang

I use the same rig except I turn the floater around backwards to create a popper.  This works well with most plastics.

Scuse my ignorance.  What is a Carolina Floater?

In the end, it's not going to matter how many breaths you took, but how many moments took your breath away.

Kinda looks like a bullet sinker, except it floats. Never used one, but I've seen it in the BPS catalog and in the store. Not sure what they're made of.

Thanks.  I wonder if you couldn't rig something like foam earplugs to work the same way.

Probably but the carolina floater heads are hard so they don't smash when you have to rip them through heavy cover.

It looks just like a bullet sinker except it's meant to be used right at the lure on a carolina rig so it floats up your worm/lizard.

so you would still use a weight to keep it at the bottom but the floater to keep the lure itself off the bottom????

POE

yeap thats it! its a sinker with a swivel and then a leader and hook and then fish. when you fish a carolina rig you want to keep the bait suspended off the bottom

WhereDaBassAt?

i understand you want to keep it off the bottom and all thats why i hardly use it unless im using tubes or a finesse worm cuz they tend to float better for me..i might need to try these out...
