I've been looking for a new reel and narrowed it down to the new JM Elite and the Quantum Tour edition. I just want an all around reel (not burner model). Both of them to me feel comfortable and smooth and are within $20.00 of each other but I am unfamiliar with BPS reels as in how well they are built and their warranties etc. Here are the links:

The only fault I found with the Quantum was the reel sits a little high for me but nothing terrible. It's also a little on the heavy side too but again it's not really a big deal. As far as the JM Elite it feels great but I am just not familiar with BPS reels. Any help would be appreciated, thanks

Not having used either of them I can't really comment.  All I can say is that I have seen good reports for both from anglers using them.

I haven'tused the JM reel but have used Bass Pro reels in the past and have no complaints with BPS products and I'm sure the JM is a great reels as well. The Quantum PT is a nice reel.  I do have a few of the Tour PTs.  If you want to save some money buy the Energy PT just as good. Either way sure you can't go wrong with either one.

i have 8 of the jm reels and a couple of the extremes as well. IMO they are the best reels you can get for the money. doug

There is no way I'd look past the Shimanos or Garcia Revos for those.  I might even look at the Ardent reels before those.
If you build a ramp...I will come...

I have a Revo S and love it so far but would like another reel. I am just curious on how the JM Extreme reel performs and how well BPS supports the warranty.

I thought about the JM Elite reel and rod combo since you save $70.00 but not familiar at all with the rod. Not sure if I like the nickel/titanium guides either but the rod would be $110.00 compared to $179.99 if you bought seperately. So basically the combo is $329.00 and the real is $219.00 which leaves about $110.00 for the rod. Is there a better rod for $110.00? Thats kind of my budget at the moment.

Jim not to try to sway your decision but if you buy a Quantum Energy or Tour reel and buy a Tour PT rod combo you get a $50.00 gift certificate to bass pro or what ever dealer you buy the combo from.

Yea I saw that also, thats a good possibility. I went back to BPS today and looked at both reels again. The JM Elite reel doesn't seem to feel very solid. There seems to be a bit more play in the handle then I care for. I even checked out a reel straight from the box and same thing. Also the handle shroud looked like it was a little warped. I took a look at a few other reels while I was up there like the Zillion which seemed pretty nice but sometime between today and tomorrow I am gonna make the purchase. I guess I'll flip a coin between the ones I like.

As far as a rod goes I looked at the Falcon Cara's, GLoomis GL2 and a few others so far. I really don't want to go over $150.00 for a rod.

For that price I'd get an Energy PT or Revo SX with either a Falcon Cara, Shimano Crucial or St. Croix Avid...

Ok so I went back to BPS today and the Revo STX was staring at me like it needed a father so I signed the adoption paperwork and took it home. It seems really smooth and from what I read it can handle fairly light tackle also which is a plus to me. Anyways funny how easy it is to change your mind when you are at the store but thank you for the advice I appreciate it.

EXCELLENT choice IMO...I wish I could afford a reel like that but the SX (or more likely) the S is about the top of my price range.  The Lowrider XG is about the top of my rod range...but to me there isn't many better in that exact price range although for just a few bucks more you can get the Cara!
