Just decided I wanted to put the old canoe to use. Anybody know if you need to register your canoe if you snap on a 30# electric?

*quickly snaps trolling motor off as he spots the sherrif's boat in the distance*

Yep... our lakes are WELL patrolled! lol! We went out on a day when there was only two boats on this lake. One of them was the sherrif! Got a warning for not having our numbers on the boat.

You will have to check into your local laws for that, maybe someone from your area will see this and help us out :-*

Oh yea.. I forgot, it's oregon... now if only I could find the boaters pamplet...

Edit: AUGH! Looked all over the "boat oregon" website... looked through laws and regulations. I give up... If it's PoPo they will just give us a warning. My bro knows all the fish cops.  ~an~

Forget warnings, game wardens don't write warnings

Thanks Way2slow for digging that up  ~c~ and I am with you I have never seen a game warden give a warning, in fact they like to confiscate property :'(

hey bassin buddies!  check local laws for that.  i know here in in my part of ontario, canada, you do not have to register a canoe with an electric motor.  call your local Ministry of Natural Resources office for info.  also, i strongly believe that if your found disobeying the law, especially when it comes to our fisheries, that you should be hung out to dry.  think of how much of our tax money goes in to pay for someones stupidity.  i read a stat here in canada at my work this weekend, that says that almost 95% of water way fatalities last year would have been prevented if they followed the laws.  thats a lot of cash to pay for stupid people.  sorry about that rant, but it bothers me when people screw with the outdoors, because we only have so much of it left.  But id call your MNR office, they will have the answer.

I really doubt the diffrence between having numbers or not on your canoe is going to effect how many tax dollars go to boating accidents.  :roll2: :roll2: :roll2: :roll2:

They only give warnings around here anyway, since we usually only have like 4 boats on the lake at once the cops usually just sunbathe.

There is no game wardens. Just the sherrifs guys, and all they do is check fishing lisences and boats.
