Hi all,

Sure is nice to be able to read about something before you buy it. I'm glad this site was here.

On Tuesday of this week, I bought a 2005 Nitro NX-750 with a 115 Mercury. I bought it from a local car dealer who bought it from a bank who repossessed the boat. I'm wondering if I can have any of the warranty transferred over into my name?  If anyone has any info that would help, I would appreciate it.
I normally buy things new but couldn't turn down the deal he made me on the boat. ($10,500 and not a scratch anywhere) On the test drive the boat reached about 55mph in the wind in very choppy water. Is this normal or should I expect better or worse in calmer water and wind.

Thanks,
Mike

I've found that a little chop on the water gives you better speed and to get a good reading on speed you should use a GPS rater then a speedo.  Speedo MPH is almost always high.  :'(

As far as the warrenty I don't know, but would sugest you contact both Nitro and Merc to see what they need to get you taken care of.

Fogy's right, check with Mercury and Nitro/Tracker.  Be ready with serial numbers and Hull ID numbers when you call, they'll want those numbers.

He's also right about the speed.  Most boat speedos are notoriously optimistic and read high.  GPS will give you a much more accurate reading, but that 55 mph sounds about right for that hull with a 115.

Calm water will have much more surface area "clinging" to the hull, causing drag and slowing you down.  A good foot of chop will give you some of the best running water for speed.

Hi All,

Well the boat will run 55 in smooth or choppy water. After last weekend, It does pretty good in 3 foot waves too.

I was wondering if anyone makes performance parts for the 115? I've been told that the 4 cyl. mercury outboards only run on 2 of the cylinders while idling to save fuel.  Just wondering if anyone knows of any upgrades for the engine that changes the way it runs. (Kinda like the programmers they have for trucks.) I know the power programmer made the biggest difference in the world with my F-250 diesel.

Thanks for any input.
