OK I know some of you are good at night time fishing and know all the ins and outs of it. What I would like your help on is telling some of the new member what are some of the good thing about night fishing and how you go about it.

Personally I not a big night fishermen but this year I plan to try it more, and go later in to the night then i have done before. From what I have heard is that most people use baits that make more noise then they use in the day time. the other thing is that if I do night fish I need to use dark colors and more black in them. So it this true in your fishing and what thing do I need to do to catch fish at night?

Thank for any help

I really enjoy night fishing and have had some fair success with it....Mainly I like to fish at night several day before and after a full moon...fish seem to be more active and i can see better where I am casting.....quality of fish tend to be a little better also..

I have caught fish on worms, craw worms, and jigs, but really prefer to use buzzbaits and spinners...For the buzzbaits and spinners I use mostly all black baits...I like the Cavitron buzzbaits and not sure the brand but for the spinner I like called a Midnight Special...it has a large colorado spinner and also a rattle.....I usually work both as slow as possible..

I like fishing bank lines, pads, etc. but lighted docks are very producitve also......Also make multiple cast to the same area...fish sometimes need time to locate your bait..

Haven't tried this yet, but recently read about one angler that would toss a soft plastic jerkbait under lighted docks....bass tend to be looking up under these so that could be worth a try too... ;)

Hope that helps a little,

Scottie

I don't night fish as much as I should, but when I do, it's always among the best fishing of the year.  I rarely use loud baits, except for topwater.  Most of the time, after the bite on top drops off, I'm using dark jig-n-pigs around the rocks and laydowns.

The thing that makes it fun is that you really use your other senses.  With your vision being subdued, your hearing and touch seem to help out more than usual.  There are also different animals along shore at night, so the entire experience is different.

Just remember to be extra safe when running, and also when out by yourself. ;)

I like to fish black frogs at night. Its a blast listening for the hit. Splosh-splosh-splosh......... SPLASH!!!! 123 ... Oh Yeah, its a HAWG  lo
Use a single big Colorado blade on a black spinner bait for some great action at night. The big blade puts out a ton of vibration and black silhouettes better against the night sky than a lighter color  ;)

Good point there TritonBMC I never thought of that angle to it, since you have to use your other senses more you might just improve all your fishing skills. Hummmm!
