RPMs at W.O.T.

Just curious what kind of RPMs you guys are running at wide open throttle? Mine are a little low at 4600, but I am about to change props to fix that.

Scott, I run anywhere from 6800 to 7000 rpms. I have to be careful not to rev limiter

Mine's just a 115 and it runs 6000-6500. Mine's old as hell though.

I know that you already know this but there is this great guy that helps out with motor questions and he is right here on our site in the Boat Ramp. Rowdy is pretty good and he is very knowledgeable....

Scott, i am running about 5300 at WOT. but as you know i am running a little more pitch than roy and bob. I will probably change the prop when i get back from Iraq.

I'm just below my limit of 5600. I'm seeing between 5500 & 5600 at WOT and seeing 63 mph GPS on a good day.

That's about what I am hoping for. 5600 and 60 mph.

Scott you can turn that motor to at least 6100 R's with no problem. The older ones have a rev limiter of 6500. Bob and Steve you guys should be turning between 5750 and 5800 the rev limiter one the newer XR6's is 6100 or 6200. I know when I had XR6 I was turning 6700 R's.

As for the HO I have now the best I have seen is 5800 on a cool morning full load GPS at 74.

Just checked the book. Our XR6 should max out at 5600. Mine hits that at WOT and trimmed all the way. 61-63 gps

I was told this by Mercury Race Engineers when I had my Black motor. Unless they have changed a lot with the whole build of the XR6 in 6 years. $:-\$ $:-\$ $:-\$

Yup, that is what is says. That is what Sherm is recommending on the Merc board of BBC as well. I can't make mine turn any more rpms with that Tempest 23 3 blade
