Coloring a plastic bait

I went to a seminar a few weeks ago about tubes.  The angler admitted that he and another angler were on fish heavy, but the other guy was catching bigger fish.  He told the seminar speaker what color he was using and told him to forget about buying any locally...he'd already bought all of them up.  They were using a similar color, but the other angler's tube had some black in it. 

The seminar spekaer took a permanent marker and spent several hours coloring tube with black marker and had some good results with it.
