Looking for suggestion on how to prevent rod guides from icing up

This is going to sound crazy, but what I do is clean the guides first. Then I put some Rain-X on a paper towel and apply the Rain-X to each guide. It'll stop ice from ever forming on those guides.

Reel Magic works also if sprayed on line and guides..

I just dip the rod in the water every once in a while, that takes the ice out of the guides and I just keep fishing.

Stay at home with a couple of  ~beer~ ~beer~   :roll2:

It is a pain, only been out a few times cold enough to deal with that, I like that rain-x suggestion, might have to try that next time I go out when it's that cold...

Thanks hesjustbassin for the tip, I will have to try Rain-X.. I tried reel magic that did not work for me. I ended up dipping the tip of the rod in the water that cleared it up for a few casts...the other problem was was the line guide on the reel. The reel guide would freeze up and look like a snow maker.

Creel I can  stay home and have a couple ~beer~ in the evening....Since I do not have a boat, I take any opportunity I can to go fishing.

Thank you all for your tips.
