7' St Croix blank. Med hvy, fast tip.

Gonna build a split rear grip custom cork handle, no foregrip, trimmed reel seat, spiral wrap, with Fuji Alconite guides.

gonna use it for pitching soft plastics and smaller jigs and / or, slow rolling larger spinnerbaits.

I've got the handle glued up in the jig, and I'll shape it tomorrow on the lathe....then hand ream it for that custom fit on the blank.

I haven't decided on the wrap colors and decals yet....might be my 2nd U.S.C. Gamecock rod. :chick :chick :chick

Might wrap it to match the colors on the boat....

can't decide........whatcha ya'll think...? :-\ :-\

I'm on a roll, would like to finish it by end of next week....depends on the  ~beer~ ~beer~ ~beer~

Sounds pretty sweet to me.  In fact, it sounds almost identical to a rod I built this past August.

I used a St. Croix Legend Elite blank, Fuji Titanium/SIC guides, trimmed a Fuji "thru-blank" reelseat down to bare minimum to get a Curado on, built the rod using the Robert's Wrap (spiral guides) with no foregrip, just barely enough cork to "finish off" the front of the seat.  I've been building rods for years using the split rear grip.

The funny thing is I thought of building a rod like that after watching my clients cast; it was after I built the first rod that I found out there were rods out there with similar designs!   '-{  I like the looks of that type of grip, and it helps with casting further, so I've probably built a couple hundred rods like that.

What type of blank did you use?

show some pics of them custom made rods,  how hard are they to build, is it economical and are they better then what you buy
