Cross Lake Bass

I've always used Cross as a catfish lake.  I recently bought my first bass rig and live close to Cross, but cannot find the bass.  My family and I enjoy catfishing, but we want to successfully bass fish on Cross.  Any suggestions?

Right now it is fairly tough on Cross.  I fished this morning and boated 2 slots.  I'd look for scattered hydrilla...and that shouldn't be hard to find...and try top water or spinnerbaits.  Beware...the gar love the top water.  Once the sun comes up...soft plastic is going to be the best ticket.  The lake is getting a lot of pressure right now...every other Thursday evening tournaments and very soon folks will start prefishing for the Reeve's.

 In the summer the best way to fish Cross is to put your boat on the trailer and go to a real lake or go home.
Really it is extremely hard fished for such a small lake in the summer and hard for even the regulars to catch fish on. It is a good lake and fishes fine in the cooler weather when it is not pressured so much. Just have to work hard and like Mike said the Hydrilla can be the key . Try weightless flukes and senko's fished real slow in the grass. Topwater early and late.

Thanks for the advice.  I do fish other lakes, but it's just so easy with the Richard Fleming launch less than five mins away to make an early morning trip before I've got to be at work.  I'll definitely try your tips and hopefully next year fish some of those Thursday evening tournaments.

I caught a bass out there today. He was the size of my hand, fingers not included. Surprisingly enough, I was happy to catch him, that's how tough it is right now.

Yeah I cant wait either, should be a blast, hey can I weigh in limbs or branches?? Should be able to catch some of those tomm.  Cross lake = right now
