As stated in the title, I am looking for a new rod that can do duty as a pitching and light punching rod. 1/2 to 1.5 oz is the weight range to be used mostly at Clear lake in CA. I have a G Loomis IMX PRO 873 Caolina rig rod for my standard jig rod. Now I am looking to take advantage of the sales and pick a rod for fishing heavier cover. Have not done much if any of this type of fishing in the past.

I have been looking at the Dobyns DX 746 and the Shimano Poison Adrena 7'6 X Heavy fast. They both have a 2 0z upper weight limit. Have never fished either. I usally go all in on my rods, but I am being a little conservative on this rod choice as I am not sure how much I will use it. Any one who has fished either of these rods your input is welcomed. ;D

I have a brand-new in the tube Dobyns Champion (Boom Boom) frog/punch rod. I BELIEVE it's called the 736? It was a mistake from Dobyns that I never got fixed...

Appreciate the offer, but I have a Champion 735 and am interested in more sensitivity than the Chapion line provides.

Went ahead and ordered the Dobyns DX876. The price on sale and the warranty Dobyns has won out.
Now to deside on a real for it. :)

Sorry I didn't see this sooner. I love a DX795 for up to 1.5 ounce. Let us know what you think of your choice.

I'm using a Megabass perfect pitch Levante.  It pitches great and punches okay.  Mostly because I am starting to think there is no such thing as "light punch".
