How was your fishing in 2024? Did you catch any giants or had any amazing trips? What was some of your go to baits or techniques?

For me, I've been keeping a log of my fishing trips for the last 10 years or so on the Fish Swami website. They produce a nice annual summary of your trips. Here's a couple of things about my year.

Fishing out of the way places in my kayak with little to no fishing pressure has produced much more fish caught this year over any other year. My catch rate sky rocketed to 4.7 fish caught an hour. That was even after several skunks logged. My biggest for the year was 6.5 with several other 6's caught as well.

Top 5 techniques in order for me were:

Fluke
Drop shot
Prop bait
Jerkbait
Popper

Best months in order:

June
March
February

I was overall very happy with my results this year and caught fish on a large variety of baits and techniques. I introduced the jighead minnow into my arsenal even though I don't have forward facing sonar. I've enjoyed learning a new technique. The kayak has really opened doors for me with new waters. Some have been amazing and others have been duds but that's the fun of it. I try to go to a new body of water each time which makes it exciting. I've still got about 25 more new ones to explore!

Great report Flats.

Your post prompted me to reflect that I didn't catch any over 6 and only one over 5 in 2024. I bought a Bubba scale for this season. It laughs at me every trip out.
