It's been awhile since I have been bass fishing but the weather was good for a kayak trip this morning.  We had an overcast morning with intermittent rain at about 70 degrees.  There was a slight current in the perimeter canal. Winds were calm until about 10:30am

I passed by Lou and said hello.  I didn't see anyone else but the duck hunters were blasting away in the STA nearby.

I wanted to fish an interior peppergrass flat that I found in the spring but it was hard to resist making a few casts at the ramp.  To my surprise, I stuck a good one just dragging a speed worm in a deep area.  I made a move and after a while there was a good fluke bite.  Nothing big but good action fishing current breaks.

I spent most of the morning learning the peppergrass flat.  Shallow areas were loaded with tiny bass and the deeper areas along the reeds seemed to have better quality fish.  At 11am I stuck another nice one.  It was a bit longer than the one in the picture and it also ate the speed worm dragged slow.  I had a good number of bites on a Fat Ace as well.  It seemed that the theme was to work the bait pretty slow today.  Overall I landed about 25 this morning and returned to the ramp with a nearly dead trolling motor battery.
