Who still uses their side scan fairly regularly?  I had it on my old boat, then when I got my fiberglass Ranger it didn't come with it.  I didn't replace it for several years.  I finally got it back on my boat I got in the fall.  Man, I didn't realize how much I missed it until I put back on this boat.  I was scouting around Lake Erie and came across a couple old wrecks on the bottom that I never knew were there.  I had my ice fishing camera with me, and I was able to drop that down as well and get a decent look at it with the fish around it.  I have to say it was my highlight of fishing year so far.  I think I enjoy finding something new to fish as much as catching a big one sometimes.  This spot did hold good smallmouth too.

I forgot to mention.  There is a little mystery at the end.  There is some fish swimming in the screen constantly and waves were picking up by then.  Couldn't figure out what they were.  They look like some sort of fry.  I sent it to few friends, and they can't figure it out either.  Any ideas?

That's awesome. I wonder how many other people have found it?

I've been fishing that area for 30 years and never came across it.  I even had side scan on the boat before this.  Lake Erie is just so massive and wide it's hard to find stuff.  I know there are over 2,000 shipwrecks on Lake Erie and only 400 have ever been found.  That's according to a recent article I read.

That is the part I think I enjoyed the most.  The exploration.  It's almost like fishing a new lake for the first time or being flown into some remote area.

Very cool man! I don't think the side imaging works on mine. I could see stumps with my Mark II eyeball that it apparently couldn't.

Yeah, there must be something wrong with it.  You should be seeing a lot more.

It's a Marcum Pursuit.  You can put a SD card in and record.  It's so compact and easy to carry.  The part I like is the long cord that I'm able to just drop it over the side of the boat and see exactly what I'm looking at.

lol ~roflmao   I enjoy it almost as much as fishing.  It's 1:35 am and I'm heading the ramp shortly to do some more scanning.  I really enjoy finding stuff as much as fishing lately.  Hopefully I get lucky again and find another gem.

I went looking for the Success Shipwreck due to the fascinating history of the ship. In this video below, you will find out the facts of it being used as a floating prison. The Great Houdini did an escape trick from one of its cells. The water was murky this day, but there are quite a few fish swimming around the wreck.
