Three weeks ago before the latest flood we were catching them pretty good on frogs agains the limbs of the cypress trees. Through the flood I heard those that went out were still catching them. The lake is back down to minor flooding and I braved it.

Fish were still eating the frog pretty good, caught over 20 with 6 over the 14-18 inch slot and the biggest about 5 pounds. Caught them from Jeems in Louisiana to Ames Basin in Texas.

Bright skies and hot with a mild east wind. Water color in the Jeems was about 9"-1' visibility while the Texas side was 6"-9" at best. Quite a bit a current in the river and it had the muddiest water. Water temps were right at 80 all over the lake. Vegetation is coming along very nicely ~c~  ~c~  ~c~

If you want to have some fun, grab your favorite Kermit and go catch some, I suggest quitting before 11 AM for the next few days, we have heat indexes near 110...  :'(  :'(

Mike congrats on a very successful outing.  Tks for sharing the trip and the details with us.

Glad you were able to hit the lake.  We're still closed down for the flooding here on Belton, Stillhouse and Lake Waco.

Carl told me he can see the "Roof Tops" of the picnic table shaded area now.   A few years ago we were able to launch the G3 off a side road and fish the lake.  We WACKED them good on Spinnerbaits.  The fish were holding up under the Metal Roof coving the picnic tables.

You have to smack the roof with the spinnerbait and let it slide down the roof.  Once it hit the water the bass were all over it  ;)
