Conditions:
Water Temp: 85-86
Temps: Mid 80's
Water clarity: slight stain
Wind: E 5-10
Skies: Started clear then cloudy
Fishing Time: 0615-1pm
Bass Boated: 33
Biggest Bass: Two-4lbrs One-3lb

Took advantage of some down time and headed out to the glades. Arrived at the ramp a little after 6 am. The boat run was nice and relaxing. Made my first stop, and started with the frog. Unfortunately, the frog bite has been off for the last couple of years, and today was no different. With a heavy heart, I put the frog away. :(

I stayed with top water and started throwing the boyo spook. Again, nothing was happening for a little spell. Then suddenly, on one particular cast, the boyo disappeared under a toilet bowl flush. I swept the lure and connected with a nice 4lb bass. That bass took me all over the place. I thought it was giant for a while.  lo Brought the fish boat side and scooped it the net.

A few casts later caught an energetic 2lbr. Thinking I was on to something, the flurry died down.  :(  Made a 5 min run to another area, and started with the boyo again. Nothing! Switched to a stick worm, nothing. Switched to a t-rig fishing deep, nothing. Hmmmm, this is not looking good.

I knew the clouds and wind were going to pick up at some point, so I bought my time waiting for the conditions to change. In the meantime, I started throwing the fluke and began connecting with bass. The only problem was they were little ones. I have had my fair share of little bass lately, so I switched to the boyo again. Nothing! Went back to the fluke, and I started catching again. But again, little. Boring!

Finally, the breeze began. Then, the clouds followed. I decided to switch over to a popper and work the outside grass line. Short time later, a little bass hit the popper. Interesting. Threw it again, another bass. Little again. Decided to throw a little bit more to the outside, the popper barely landed, and 3lbr swallowed it.

The bite slowed down again, but my gut told me to stay with the popper. On one cast, I barely walked the popper, saw some commotion, and the popper disappeared. I swept the hooks and connected with another 4lbr!
Great fight. Managed to land it and kept at it.

The only other boat out there was underway, I waved him through as he approached me. But the boat decided to stop right before it reached me. The boater was a nice chatty old timer. He began to tell me a story right as he approached my boat. ::)  He also began to talk about how tough the fishing was and how the fishing conditions were horrible. I didn't have the heart to tell him. The bite was actually pretty good. After a couple of minutes, the gentleman got back under way, and I resumed fishing.

I landed a couple more decent bass, not like the 4lbrs, but decent enough to bend the rod some. Saw some grey clouds in the distance, and the bass were not giving me a reason to stick around, so I called the trip around 1pm.

All in all, it was a decent outing. There were a lot of lulls, but fortunately, I connected with several nice bass.

Thanks for reading!
