Greetings to all,

Hey just a shout out here and not for sure if everyone has heard this.  By 2025 all the OLD STYLE Military Retired ID cards will be terminated.  The government has come out with a NEW RETIRED Military ID Card. The new card looks nothing like the old one.  You still have your picture on it but your SSN#  has been removed.  Everyone has a new ID Number now also.

Yesterday I had to get the wife a new ID Card made due to hers expiring next month.  While at the Ft. Cavazos ID Card Bldg. I had to show my ID card beings I'm her sponsor. I was informed that my ID card had expired when I turned 65 yrs old.  Big surprise and shocked when I was informed of that.

On the front of my Retired Military ID Card it indicated INDEF.  On the backside of the card there is an expired date on it.  When you turn 65 your Retired ID Card is no longer good.  I've never ever looked at the back of the ID card and seen that.

So if y'all have those old style pictured ID cards you're going to need to get a new one.  I don't know if the Air Force and the other branches are doing this but the Army has made the change.  It didn't take but a few minutes for the new ID card to be made and yep it's INDEF Status once again  ;)

That's good to know.  I'll head out to the base and catch up with the new design.

Since I am over 65 mine reads indef on both the front and back. Also my doctors are now using the benefits number on the back of the card.

OK, I was a member of the IC AND the DOD. I have a card from each and use them at the PX. I do not have an expiration date on either card. Is the 65-age rule specific to the retired warriors or to everyone who uses  a government ID card on base? Thanks, Don.

Wizard, not sure about the IC card.  I did read that the DOD and Military ID's all Active Duty and Retired had to be issued new cards.  Your SSN# isn't on the new ID Card but your picture is.  Everyone has a new ID number assigned.

The 65age group thing was to make sure that the individuals had secondary means of health care available.  Or at least that's how I understood it when I read it and was explained to me.

I get seen at the VA and my wife has her own civilian doctor.  We also have Humana Tri-Care Prime for life health insurance.

I was instructed when my wife turns 65 I'm to bring her back in for a new updated ID card also.

it sounds like they went to a common access card.  Are they white with a 10 or so digit number on the back?

dont post a pic or anything.  But as a slimy contractor I have to get one and I heard somewhere along the way that everyone was getting a cac -- common access card.

They are White with your picture on the front and back.  On the back it has your New DoD ID # along with your Benefits Number and the effective date.

On the front it has again your picture; Pay Grade and Rank.

yessir that is a CaC -- Common Access Card.  It has a certificate burned on it (the gold chip).  This is to make it easier to login on VA and probably DEERS or a similar system.
