It'll never be my favorite fishery, just because the likelihood of tearing something up is pretty high if you're not very familiar with where the cuts and underwater hazards are. That said, maybe that'll help pick things up on the Red in due time. When Bassmaster had that Open there a couple years ago or so, the weights were super low. Of course, the hot weather didn't help, but the river has been a tough fishery for some years now.

Ever since the big flood the river hasn't been the same, both in navigation obviously and the quality of fish. Prior to the flood, if you didn't have a 20 pound bag (in pool 4-5) you didn't make the top 5. My personal best came from the river in an American Bass Anglers tournament on pool five, 12.4 now 12 pounds is a solid limit.

I think it will take a lot more than just some fish, but if they can get the back waters open again, let the vegetation grow, then in a couple years we might have something rocking and rolling again.
