i fished the CA Delta Friday.  my rod came in on Friday, so i missed the opportunity to try it out.  i came home sun-beaten, dehydrated, etc...and saw the rod tube in the living room.  my wife brought it in.  i put my gear away, and opened the tube.  fit in finish of a P5 rod is off the hook!!  it isnt flashy or bedazzled.  just plain and clean.  the guides appear very "low profile".  i flexed the rod gingerly.  it was so odd!!  the first foot of rod is very flexy.  the stiffness picks up so quickly.  total trip.  the rod is so light.  ethereal almost.

i had just broken a rod.  so i had a Curado 150 MGL floating loose.  i put it on the rod.  i think it could fit a lighter reel better, but i wasnt bad.  i looked at my new rod, and my wife said.  "you should really go fishing again tomorrow".  i will hit a nearby body of water.  total risk, longshot waters.  i could skunk.

i instantly ran into the garage and got my kayak ready, and loaded my truck with my kayak fishing needs and acoutrements.  off to bed early that day.

fishing?  i got some big bass to cooperate.  the sensitivity of the rod is unmatched by anything in my arsenal.  i kept feeling a tiny "click" in the rod.  i felt my line and i had nicked it.  i could feel the tiny nick, when it hit the first guide.  a bass picking up my plastic creature bait was easy.  i had slams, and the gentlest pickups.  i felt them all!  setting the hook was awesome.  it loaded into the backbone perfectly.  casting was great.  i was accurate right away.  no transition needed from the Dobyns Fury 733 it replaced.  i actually loosened the spool and reduced brakes, since it took less effort to roll cast.  the flexy end/tip catepulted my 1/16 bullet and 3.5" bait like it weighed double.

i only brought 2 rods.  the X-bites and my last Dobyns.  the dobyns never left the rod holder.

the only downside of the rod?  now i want more.  wah!!  champagne taste, but beer budget  :D

i now have about 20 bass or so on the X-Bites.  it really is shining now that i put a Zillion on top of it.  the package is stupid light.

i am loving it and honestly looking forward to my next rod purchase.
