Hey all! I have a 24v 80lb Ultrex that is two years old. My son took it out for first time of season and said trolling motor was not running right. He took apart the lower unit to find a little water inside. I ordered parts to fix but waiting to get them. Everything is dried out as it wasn't real wet but the magents all have a rust film on them. I want to get it good and clean for when I put it back together with new parts. What is safe to use for a cleaner to get the inside and the magnets all good and clean? Thanks all and tight lines!

Been a long time since I've been in one but we used to just use carb cleaner  :surrender: probably not the best idea. We let them dry overnight to make sure we weren't building a bomb.

lo Thanks Mike. I was thinking about brake cleaner too but I certainly don't want to use something that is going to screw something up!

I believe I'd try Tuner Cleaner (if you can still get it). Chemtronics Tun-o-wash is another good one or used to be. Regular tuner cleaner has an extremely light lubricant to prevent corrosion. Tun-o-wash was a no residue electronics cleaner.

97% isopropyl alcohol would work too.
