Been hitting Collins Lake last couple weeks with buddies Fred, Len and my wife.  FIshing has been slow but consistent averaging 10-12 fish per trip.  Fish have been on flatter points in about 20-25 feet.  Best baits have been a Z-man hula stick in molting craw or PBJ on a 1/4 ounce head.  Also a few on a jig.  Most recent trip some othe guys said they were catching them on A-Rigs and LV500 in about 14 feet.  Lake is full, water temp is 47-50, clarity 2+ feet.
I knew I shoulda re-tied!!

Nice to hear a lake is FULL here!!

And some nice catches as well especially with the sub 50 water temps!! Are these mostly spotted bass hitting or do you have smallies in there too?

No smallies in Collins. We caught mostly spots with a few largemouth. The lake is heavily planted with trout and the bass like them.  ~fff

I know Bullards has taken over the spot light but is Collins still producing record class spotted bass?

There is the occasional 7-8 pound Spot coming out of Collins.  But can't keep up with Bullards for world class fish.  But honestly, fishing is usually better at Collins unless you are strictly trophy hunting.  There are a lot of 10-12 inch spots in Bullards.
