A lot of water has shallow brush / weeds extending a short distance from the bank preventing you from making good casts to open water  ... Seems like you would be able to work such shallow brush from the bank with a standard bait cast flipping set-up , has anybody tried ?

When I come across dense vegetation spots bank fishing, I flip into the open pockets. Sometimes there's someone home.  ~fff

I have found over the years that our bank fishing spots in the south, are mostly old dredged rock pits, and canals that all have sandstone shelves and sharp drop offs.  Heavy weights and pitching weights have a tendency to get hung up on jagged rock.   You will lose a lot of terminal tackle unless you use very light weights,  or even weightless.  You also get much better natural action from your baits with lighter weights, or weightless.

I like the idea of being able to flip to the open pockets or along weed edges from the bank using a 7'3" MH rod , 7:5:1 bait cast reel , 5" Stick Worm in Green Pumpkin and a darker color (Junebug or Black & Blue) , 3/16th oz. tungsten bullet weight , appropriate snelled straight shank 3/0 ~ 4/0 hook fished on 15 lb. ~ 20 lb. FC  ...One thing is for sure - you don't see anybody using this technique from the bank .
