I haven't bought a new rod in ages. My son (middle school age) fishes in several tournament leagues, so most of my $$ goes to his fishing equipment and keeping up the boat. I rarely spend money on myself, and I've literally been fishing with a few old All-Star rods for over 20 years now. These were the original ones (before they were bought out) and were good rods back when they were made, but technology has moved on, plus they're starting to wear out. I've been down to two of those rods lately, and my wife accidentally broke one of those not too long ago, so I finally bit the bullet and bought a new rod last week.

Ended up with a Kaden series spinning rod, a 713SF. Holy crap, all I can say is I am impressed. The feel is perfect for what I was looking for, which is something to work weightless floating worms and stickbaits through grass with, using spinning gear. I've been also trying some of the various brands of rods that my son has accumulated, but the sensitivity of this Kaden is the best of anything I've ever fished with. My wife and I fished the Ouachita River in Arkansas this past weekend, and I was super-pleased at how well it performed. I could easily differentiate every little thing the lure contacted, and it was easy to immediately feel the bite even when it was a little dink. I can say I am 100% sold. I'm already looking at getting a few more now.

Congratulations, I love the Kaden series. The addiction is real and for good reason.

^ This.

I got my first Dobyns by winning the Bassmaster Guess the Winning Weight Contest right here on UB back in 2015 or 2016. It was a Fury 733C.

At the time my fishing was being supported by Pure Fishing and I was using ABU Garcia rods. I had Veritas, Veracity and Villain models.

The Fury was at the same price point as the Veritas ($99.99), the Veracity was at $179.99 and the Villain was at $199.99.

Eventually I did a side-by-side rod shout-out and I couldn't believe how much better the Fury was. It completely blew the Veritas (same price point) away. It easily  matched the Veracity ($80 more) in sensitivity and feel in hand. And it was far better balanced than all 3 of the Abu lines.
All I could think was that if the $100 Dobyns outgunned the $180 Abu, how much better would the Sierra ($159.99 at the time) be than the $200 Abu Villain.

Well I soon found out and never looked back.

I am now at a full dozen Dobyns Rods from Fury all the way up to Xtasy. Each line fishes way above it's price point IMHO, and should a problem arise Dobyns has the best warranty or replacement that I have ever seen.

Welcome to the Dobyns family. You have both my congratulations and my sympathies for your wallet.  Princeton_Man wasn't kidding. They are like Lay's potato chips -  you can't have just one!

Congrats on your first Dobyns.  I have the same Kayden rod. Its an excellent rod, you are going to enjoy it for years to come.

Congratulations :toot: Tell your wife I'm sorry....   lo

The Kaden series is a great fit for most anglers. It isn't a giant price tag and really delivers on everything we as anglers demand in a rod. It's not necessarily cheap but it performs like rods twice it's price.

Can't wait to see your catches with it  :-*

lo I'll probably have to fight her over it if she ever picks it up and fishes with it!
Hard to believe it's a sub $200 rod. I need to go ahead and get the rest of them that I need in case prices are forced up in this economy like everything else.

I've been fishing Dobyns products for almost 14 years now. Gary Dobyns deserves every accolade provided to him. He built his company from the ground up and he stands behind his products.  I like Smally have a real mix of rods from several series and the Kadens are my favorites.  Enjoy your new stick!!

Dobyns are a drug!!!

Got my first 4 years ago.  Joined a local bass club last year and now have 12 including a Fury 704C I picked up today for $60 used!

I do have the Kaden 745 and its a beast for bottom contact.

That Kaden is an awesome rod! I have the Sam Sobi series 723SF which is the same blank, just 1" longer. It is absolutely perfect for what you're doing, as I fish it mainly with weightless a Skinny Dipper over grass lines, and it's phenomenal. I discovered Dobyn's back in March of this year when I borrowed a buddy's DC732SF, and now I have 14 of their rods. I'm super happy with them and will probably pick up a few more next year.
