Keep your spare spools of fishing line in the refridgerator (if the wife let's you) in the bottom compartment of the fridge.

Since ultraviolet rays and heat can break down line, keeping it in the fridge keeps it protected and lasting longer.  I have kept some in there for over two years and it is still as strong as new.

Very interesting.    ~c~  What about the freezer, is that too cold?

Never tried it in there.  But since very little light reaches into the bottom compartment, and most fridges are kept around 38-42 degrees so that's near freezing anyway.

I'm gonna have to get a fridge for the garage - will have a wife attack if the line goes into the one in the kitchen ;)

Do you want to hear a tragedy on this one.  My mother-in-law sold one of those 3 foot high refrigerators on my front lawn during a yard sale on Saturday, without my knowledge.  I would have been all over that.   :'(  I think she only got $15-20 for it too, I know she only made $35 on the whole day and sold other things too.  What gives, I guess I got my justice for going camping all weekend.   :'(

i store my line in an old cooler in the basement,no problems, i have a hard enough time getting her to let me put deer meat in there :roll2: :roll2:
god grant that i may live to fish until my dying day and when it comes to my last cast i then most humbly pray when in the lords safe landing net i"m peacefully asleep that in his mercy i be judged as good enough to keep. member BASS,ILLINOIS FEDERATION
