Our Slow Trollers Fishing club made it to Lake Oroville on Friday 9/29.  A good time was had by all as the spotted bass were definitely biting.  No real big fish, but every pair of anglers reported catching at least 30-40 fish, and we all quit before 1 pm.  SOmetimes those 1.5 -2 pounds spots make you think you have a 4 pounder on the hook.  Lots of fun.  There were a few topwater fish on whopper ploppers, but most of them came on soft plastics including ned rigs, dart headed worms, and drops shots, along with a few on jigs. Fish were mostly in the top 20 feet on points and banks with chunk rocks and clay.  After fishing, we gathered in the parking lot at Bidwel launch to swap fish stories and eat lunch.  Oroville is down just over 200 feet, but the launch at Bidwel is good and there are still plenty of areas to fish.
I knew I shoulda re-tied!!

Sounds like a Great time!!! Don't even remember last time I caught 30+ bass! And yes a spotted bass makes a Largemouth seem like a wimp!

Oroville always did have an amazing population of fish. Used to make me wonder how there could ever be a slow day there LOL

Thanks for the report.

I don't know if I asked this, but I assume they still have the slot there?

Mike, the slot limit has been gone for a long time.  Have not seen a Red Eye bass since I can remember.  Not sure if they were cross bred away or what.
