Might already be a thread on this somewhere. What's your favorite attractant and why?

I guess nobody likes real craws stinking up their baits huh!

i been using xtreme garlic in a tube, i stepped on it in the boat. (that won't happen again) i've had the thinking there really ain't an attractant for bass, i use it more for a cover scent. i'd like to know if there's better though. anyone ever chum for bass?

Attractants -

I use my sponsors stuff - never used attractants before using theirs so can't really compare.  They make anise and garlic.  I really don't use it on the water.  I leave it at home.  Really only takes up space when kept on the boat.  When I get a new bag of plastics, I spray a bunch of the attractant in the bag and seal back up.  I don't know if attractant really helps attract either - I'm a believer that it covers up other unattractive odors like sunscreen, gasoline, etc etc that you may already have on your hands upon arrival at the lake/river.

I am a tried and true Megastrike user.  I really like the fact it is in a tube and not a spray.  It seems to work really well too.  I've had fish pick up worms or other plastic baits and just hold on for what seems an eternity.  Gives me time to shut my trap and set the hook!

Mega Strike has been a very popular product - I have heard many many people applaud the product.  If it works - use it is what I say.  Confidence in a product is the highest form of flattery to a product manufacturer.

I'm not really putting down attractants and I in no way want people to think that - it's really that I have never felt that I have needed them.  All my baits come precoated with attractant already - I never need my own unless they dry out or I just want to add a little extra.  I started using V&M because of the pork fat that they cook into their baits.  That in itself is an attractant if you want to call it that.  Have never had a problem with a fish not holding onto a bait.  Some days the bite is tough - but if they are hungry enough to bite they maintain that bite more than long enough to get a hook into them.

Again - the confidence factor is key.  If you think it helps - that is all that matters.  Use whatever it is you use.  I've got a few cans of this kind and that kind of attractant - most of the metal cans have rust on them and most of the plastic ones have lost all similarity to fish attractant.  I just don't use much of it I guess.
