First time fishing Ivan Lake. Didn't know there was a check in/check out procedure before launching. The ramp there is really flat, so you might have to get your feet wet if loading by yourself.
Took us a little while to get the lake somewhat figured out.  Water temp was in the low 80s according to electronics. Intermittent light wind, bluebird skies, and even though I don't have a frame of reference for that lake, I felt like the bite was probably tougher than usual. Started out fishing the bank across from the launch without much luck. Caught a few small buck bass in the back of Phillip's Creek, probably eating fry. Fished grass and stumps with soft plastics (stickbaits, floating worms, swimbaits) mostly. Biggest bass we caught was 2.5 lb, but I know there must be bigger females that have moved off deeper, we just didn't find them.

Thanks for the report. We don't get to hear much about Ivan. It can be pretty good, mostly because it doesn't get a lot of pressure.

Usually socked in with grass all over which makes it tough to fish. Glad y'all caught some as I don't do well out there. 80s for water temp seems high but being such a small lake def changes quicker than the bigger ones around here.

I can believe that. I've lived here my whole life and I've never fished there before. I think I saw four other boats out there and two of them looked like they were bream fishing. For a lake that probably gets very little traffic, they have the nicest marked boat road I've seen around here.

I thought it sounded a little warm too, to the point I made a comment to my wife when I saw the temp on my graph. Hopefully just because we were fishing shallow, not because of an electronics issue. Might carry an old fashioned thermometer with me next time to see if it agrees with what the graph is saying.

IVAN CAN BE TOUGH. MIGHT BE BECAUSE THE LAKE IS STOCKED WITH "TIGER BASS' .  THEY ARE VERY AGGRESSIVE AND FUN TO CATCH BUT AS I SAID THEY CAN BE MORE FINICKY THAN FLORIDA BASS.  IMHO!  ITS A RATHER SMALL LAKE TO FISH.  YOU ARE RIGHT BETTER PLAN ON WADING TO LAUNCH YOUR BOAT
