Fished the Old Farts tournament on Hosston this yesterday. Being post front and very cold for nearly May, 40 degrees at launch, the fishing was tough. Wind was mild but there wasn't a cloud in the sky to help.

I scratched up just 6 bites, missed one of those. The five only weighed 9+, while poor for this lake, they were the winning stringer. Second had 7+ and third 6+. Brutal.

Water is still pretty clear but not as bad as it had been. Salvinia is still very little, however I never made it past marker 19 so I didn't see much of the lake.

Water temp was 69-70 all day. I caught all my fish on a beaver basically sitting on trees. Nearly impossible pattern for me LOL the one I missed was on a pop'r. Second place caught his on a jig and senko. Not sure about third?

A limit post-front with a bluebird sky is good. Did you mostly fish the north side or the south side of the lake? We had a tough time at Hosston last time we were there. We fished the first two of the three big southern pockets, but didn't have much luck. Saw the biggest grennel I've ever seen in my life at the mouth of Lowe Creek.

Hosston does have some giant Grennel in the world. Lost many a lure to their jaws...

I fished mostly the north side this time.

That lake is so hit and miss! Friend had over 20lbs from there yesterday.
