Can anyone with a 901 tell me what this middle switch is for?  It was not working and after pulling the bow dash out I discovered 2 of the 3 leads not connected.  I tried reconnecting them but can't seem to find out what it goes to.

My assumption is the bilge but really don't know.  It is only an on/off switch.

What do I need to be able to test wires to see if they are getting power?

On my 929 I had tilt/trim and a switch for the nav lights and a switch for the white lights in and around the boat that had to be turned on at the bow or the console so the lights on the side of the console will come on and provide power to turn on the lights in the storage boxes.  But mine were all rocker switches those just look like on or off switches and very well could be wires to turn on your bilge  :-\

what color are the wires in the boats harness that the switches hook to?
you can use a 12 volt test light to check power with and should be able
to get a ground in the factory harness.

I attached a picture of the switch and how I connected the 2 wires.....however, nothing turns on.  I know nothing about electrical issues and have no idea how to use a test light to check the power or how to find a ground in the factory harness.

the black wire should be ground,,the grey with blue should go to the nav lights and the bilge is normally brown  but may be solid orange on your boat.,,,, what is the other wires connecting too on the back of the panel?
To check it with a test light is not hard,,get a test light and a piece of wire as long as your boat.
now connect one end of the wire to the NEGTIVE side of your cranking battery and the other end to the test light, this will allow you to work all over the boat with a good ground. Now you just touch the ends of the wires with the test light probe and if the light lights up you have 12 volts to that point. you can flip the switches and check them also. Look in the rear of the boat and trace the bilge wires back up the harness and see what color it is in the factory harness and look under the front where you have the panel out and see what color wires are going to the bow light Most boats that I
have worked on the wiring has all been really close to the same , and they seem to have a color code for each accessory on the boat. get a close up picture of the factory harness at the front

after I blowed up the picture I can see the wire colors. I belive this is what the wires should go to.
Red wire = power
Blue wire= trim
Green wire= trim
Gray/blue= stern light
Orange= int. lights
Black= ground
I cant say for sure that is right but from what I have seen it should be correct. If you can not figure it
out pm me for my number and I bet I can talk you right thru it.

In this picture, the wires going to the 2 switches on the right are for the up/down trim and they work just fine......it's the switch on the left with the single orange wire going to it is the switch in question.

All of those wires visable are coming out of the harness at the top right of the picture.  The black and grey/green stripe wire were lose and not connected to anything.

I will run a wire back to my negative post and connect it to the light tester I have and see if those wires have power the next chance I get....probably this weekend.

I truely appreciate the assistance.  I am not affraid to swallow my pride and say I don't know how to do something so your help is appreciated.

Since this rocker switch has 3 wires, does that mean it's an on/off/on type switch?  The switch will flip up to an "on" position but when you press it back down it does not stay in the down position, it just returns to it's neutral position.  Maybe the switch itself is broken?

Ok now we got the blue and green wires accounted for. Connect your test light ground to the black and then touch the red wire on the back of the trim switch, that will tell us if the black wire is ground.
You will need to make sure the assy. panel power is on at the console. Now it looks as if you are going
to need a jumper wire, take a short piece of wire maybe 6 in long and skin it bare on both ends. put your stern light in its socket and take jumper wire and jump power from the RED wire on the trim switch to the orange wire and listen for a pump to come on or the stern light to light up and then do the same with the gray wire., post back what you find,, looks like it may just need a jumper to that switch and the wires put back on it. post back we will get it figured out. it does sound like that's just a on/off switch. Does the bow light work from the console switch?? thinking I may have it figured out.

I will give this a shot and follow up.  It may be the weekend before I get to it.  Thanks again.

Also check the orange wire for 12volts with the test light.

Hi Stratos Bandit,

Not sure if you receive notifications but was curious if you still had the boat and images you posted. I was trying to figure things out with that myself since I'm experiencing voltage loss, on my 2000 929.
