March is close, that time of year many of you look forward to so you can launch the boat and begin the yearly chase of little green fish. I can see all your smiles now, quite a sight. Me, it means April and May are closer, it seems March can give us some of our biggest winter storms, April and May can bring the rain, and more rain, and more rain, Just never know living by these big lakes.
I've seen years when I could start fishing in March, very rare, it normally is April at the earliest. Tried fishing Erie for the May Preseason Lunker Smallmouth season and the launch at Buffalo was still iced up. It's a gorgeous area with many, many fishing opportunities but the weather can lay all your hopes low.

trees are starting to flower down here in southern TN.  two weeks ago they were in bloom down in northern Florida.
it's comin'!
water temps out on the lake yesterday were 52°F.  muddy.. but warming.
just in time for the big cool down.  it's technically still winter after all.
BUT its now light after 630PM.  and daylight savings time is just a week or two out...  won't be long and it'll be light out after 8PM...

Yeah the weather is finally headed for the better here in Ohio and I am looking forward to getting the boat back in the water!  May have to take out a loan to keep gas in her this year but oh well!

A couple days ago we hit 60 degrees. Right now we are in the midst of a snow storm that started sometime overnight and is forecast to last until late evenig or early morning tomorrow.

Like Rodney April is usually when we get to start scratching the itch.   :P

Well the weather down here in Texas can't make it's mind up.  These past (2) Winters have been strange and a bit on the colder wet side.  March & April are our wet months but the temps are usually warm 60's > 80's.

Once the weather gets straighten out and the water warms up just a bit those White Bass will start running.  We need a lot of rain here as the lakes are really low.  All the spawning banks are completely out of the water now  :(

Yeah it is cold here in middle TN, 30-50 still.  A ton of rain and snow and throw in a day of 60's or 2.  Just enough to mess up your sinuses.  We have some more flooding here.  Been raining all week.  Not as bad as 2010, but still causes problems.  Starting Wednesday we will be in the 60's and moving into the 70's, which has been the norm the past few years.  It has been unseasonably cold

Weather recently has been a bit warmer than normal. ( our normal this time of the year is mid 60s)  The past week we have had mid to upper 70s and sunny and even a couple of days that reached the 80 degree mark.  A bit dry still but some rain is expected on Sunday afternoon.  Looks like mostly normal weather for the next couple weeks but maybe a bit on the cool side.  Each year we get our first 80 degree days in February only to be followed by some cooler weather.  Looks like the same this year.  Pollen is high right now with a coating on the cars that will only get worse through April before it subsides.  Not good if you have allergies.

Went by the boat ramp this morning and a good number of folks are launching today to spend some time on the water and make sure their boats are checked out and good to go.  I did see a couple folks who could not get the motor started so it looks like they will have some work to do or try to find a shop to squeeze them in for a maintenance check.

Only three more weeks and I will be in Florida fishing with FD on the Kissimmee Chain.  Should be a great way to start the season.

Bud:  I used to be a HEAVY allergy sufferer.  that was before I moved down here to 'the land of the pines'.  pollen so thick it can block the sun (at least dim it).  have seen that and been IN it.once turned on a light during an April night trip (carters lake targeting huge stripers feeding on spawning alewives... that's a story in it's own right)  and so much pollen in the air it looked like it was snowing.  one of this fine/mist snows.
anyway... I've been using flushing sinus with sinumed products.  since then, my allergies just aren't 'with me' anymore.  and I don't get sinus infections.  and haven't been sick.  think some of our challenges as Humans is the 'detritus' that collect there... or when viral loads get 'high enough' we can't fight them off anymore...
works for me.  no longer even keep Zyrtec in the house.

Yep, I am a user of that product also.  Don't have an allergy problem either.  Doctor who fixed my deviated septum last year put me on to this stuff.
