When this all first went down in April they told us maybe a year. But now the post on LDOTD website says the summer of 2022... of course they slip that "pending weather delays" in there as a catch all... We haven't had any significant rainfall or bad weather here for quite some time so you'd think they would be ahead of the game.

Really how long does it take to remove and replace a bridge that ins't 50 yards long and in 10 ft of water ~b~

At first a half hour to my travels didn't seem to bad, but with the increase in gas prices this is really starting to wear on me. Not much we can do I guess....

Just thought every one should be aware.

It's as corrupt as any construction project in Bossier Parish... More $$ given the longer it takes!

The other bridge is out on that road too!

That's why in Dallas they put a bonus into the contract if construction is completed early.

Mike Cork

That's a great idea Chadyp, but here in Louisiana you must be family or In-Laws before you can be considered for a contract.  ~rant ~xyz

Took two years to finish sidewalks on one stretch of road in West Monroe. My old crew would've had it done in six weeks.

It's just a fact of Louisiana life; if the state or a city is paying, it WILL be grossly over budget and way over schedule and no one will even consider doing a damn thing about it. They'll just shrug and write more checks.

These are public corruption CONVICTIONS, not even counting official charges and unofficial accusations.

I guess the only good news here is we are not in D.C. :surrender:

WVDOH pulled a similar stunt a couple years ago, citizens in the affected community banded together, contacted both lawyers their politicians. When they pointed out the time difference it took first responders to reach the people and homes that were being affected. (Their "Golden Hour" was cut nearly in half.) Their road became a top priority. Somebody found the money and time real quick. Temporary repairs were made eliminate the additional risk while permanent repairs quickly got under way.

How's the progression(or lack thereof) going for the bridge?!?! They've had great weather the last few months.

No updates. I've seen two bridges go down and be completed this year and a third major bridge starts on the 22 of Dec, but it's in another parish... Someone said maybe May but I haven't see anything official on it.

The city did a major rebuild of the street I live on, finished it in 9 months, that included going down 20 feet and replacing the gas and water lines and new sewers, the city put the local power company in charge. A few years ago they did the same with the next street over, less work, took 3 years, the difference, the city was in charge. Stupid politicians.

Thanks for the link. Still amazes me that a bridge that isn't 50 yards long is taking a year and a half almost two to complete? It's like there are two people working on it?

Wow... so disappointing...

At least they can blame the weather now, there has been two days of rain in February.  ~xyz ~rant
