Hit up a family pond and while it was really cold (some of the buckets around the pond had ice in em) we ended up catching 16. My brother and cousin(middle school kid who's getting to join his high school fishing team next season!!) joined me up there.

A Spinnerbait caught 3 and 1 came on a rattletrap(???) but the rest came on texas or drop shot rigged baits. The pond was really low and the bass were concentrated in the deepest part beside the overflow pipe. Caught 12 of the 16 there matter of fact. Baby brush hog, MT 4" curl tail, and a MT buzz bug were the soft plastics that worked.

Was really happy my cousin was able to catch some and try out different lures and all. He is really looking forward to learning more about fishing and joining the team.

A good side note was that usually this pond is full of malnourished looking bass(that I cull) but this time all but 1 looked healthy!! The 1 that was skinnier had some parasites so threw it up in the woods for the cats/coons.

Good deal. It has been so nice this last week that it kills me not to be fishin'. Oh well, projects are (kinda) getting done.

Great way to spend a Christmas eve!

Glad you all were able to catch some especially with having the young'un with you. Sounds like he's hooked!

Oh he is!! Going thru the tackle box asking what lures were and how to use em. I'm not good with the drop shot so having those pond bass eat it was good practice and showed him it as well. I know Norman is a great lake for drop shotting.
