I spent 4 days in ICU last week and it's just amazing how something new rears its head.

Last week my cousin came up to make sure my boat was ready.  Nope, no power anywhere. We tried every outlet on my wet slip, nada. I called the marina manager and he came down to check the breaker box. It was good to go. He checked my extension cord that was only showing 11 watts so in true form I'm the only human on earth with a bad cord. We jumped the boat off, ran it an hour and came back to hook up a new cord. We were packing up and about half way to my truck something hit me and I could not walk. My cousin asked if I was having a heart attack but it was lower back causing the pain. I also fell in the boat.

I got home and went straight to bed. I woke up in the night half way in the bed, half way out. I could not get up until my wife helped me. That's 2 falls. The kicker was I somehow got up and was trying to plug in my sound bar on the TV. It's set on top of a 48" chest. I totally passed out and when I fell the sound bar and a 40" Samsung comes off its rest and fell directly on me.

At 9am we were at the Orthopedic walk in Urgent Care. They xrayed everything and a fracture in my elbow from the TV was all they found. The Ortho Dr and my RN wife called the hospital and they insisted I come straight in to be admitted under stroke protocols. They ran labs, CT, EKG and I forget all of it. It was almost dark when they got me in my room. The next morning they took more blood as a follow up to confirm it was Rhabdomyolysis. I know, same here, what the Hell? My wife knew and from the look on her face got my attention. From what I remember each injury was flooding my already bad kidneys with more than they could handle.  It took over 3 days running of iv fluids as fast as possible through me to get stable.

I'll post the article my Dr. gave me on Rhabdomyolysis. Capper is they said under review had I not come in immediately it could have had "grave consequences"

If you get anything like those symptoms don't chance it, get medical attention.

Incredible how things have not symptoms until they knock you to the ground. Then the doc's complain and tell you things like, "You should have come in sooner"  ~rant

Glad they found it and have you on a course to healing.

Man, glad you caught it early. Reminds me of a story, Had a few soldiers of mine get that at a training one year. There was no water, no drinks, barely any food and was 116° with high humidity. Majority of the Platoon was on the verge of heat stroke, but a few got "the rab". One of the telltale signs we all noticed when it started with them was "The smell". The toxins that "bypassed" the kidneys, came out through the sweat. It had a very rotten smell to it that makes heavy sweat smell like a cologne.

Hope ya feel better soon man. Best of luck.

Thank you all. At least I finally know what's been behind all the troubles plaguing me the last 7 years or so. I've had to call my wife to get me home from the golf course or the lake. I'm thanking God I didn't pass out behind the wheel. I'm not going to push things. It might be spring before I go fishing. It's just not worth pushing things.
