When I purchase my boat, it came with two black plastic storage trays that sit in the battery compartment, and road atop the seal. The problem is that both trays have seen their best days come and go, with one having been patched, and the other needing patched. Truth is, they're both overdue for replacement. Heck, they may not even be OE. Anybody have any idea for a good source?

Thanks!

"Carol the parts mom"? I swear I've read about a parts lady named Carol somewhere else on this site.

Thanks!

Yep...

If she doesn't have it "in the barn", you don't really need it...

 lo lo lo lo
That actually sounds about right to me.

I'm getting ready to replace all the weather seals in my various compartments. They're all shot, or mostly shot, so I'm going to do them all.

I ordered some seal by the foot. UGH. Anyway, that's another story.

Thanks!

Unless you are very careful coming off plane every time, anything you put in there will get wet. I took mine out.  They became compost piles over time. It was a place for a weigh bag and a prop wrench in my case.

I gave that some thought too. I've learned to ease off of plane and let her settle a little more gently to help prevent washing forward over the back hatch. Practice, practice, practice. As far as composting, yeah, I could see that. I figure to use a hot soldering iron to push a little well into the corners, and clip off the bottom so they will drain. Speaking of that, I order a bunch of weather-seal so I can re-do all the hatches on the boat. They're in pretty sorry shape. I also wondered if those trays shorten the life of the seal, since it rides there.

Thanks!

Those trays ride above the seal as I recall so seals won't help with water. Seals were good on my 2008. My 2013 they all came apart. Think it was a glue issue. Never was 100% coming off plane in either boat so got wet.  I should have drilled holes for water to escape.

Eric,

Yes, the trays ride atop the seal. I think that probably contributes to shortening seal life a little. I expect it gets pinched a little there at the tray at the end toward the center of the compartment. I also think if you put anything very heavy in them, that probably hurts the seals a little. I'm going to play around with it a little, simply because I like having the tray there. A cheap flashlight in one. Maybe a couple basic tools, as you mentioned. Nothing too heavy, and nothing I'm too fond of...

Thanks!
