My how time flies.  It was 56 years ago that I joined the U.S.Army.  Little did I know at that time just how much my life was about to be changed forever.  I remember those first few days in vivid detail.  It still amazes me that all these years later that lessons learned during those times would be remembered to this very day.  I was very fortunate to spend my entire military time with some pretty choice assignments and never had to endure what many of you had to experience.  I almost feel guilty to have had it so easy.

Not too far behind you, experience wise. Age wise, you win.(I'm only 41) It has it's ups and downs being enlisted from things you're proud of, to things you wish you could forget. I've met great people and some who I would trade to ISIS for a bottle of Coke. My time here is almost done as it was this Outlaw's last ride. It has been an experience.

Enlisted in 2012 at 32yrs old. Yeah, I started late.

1964, turned down by the Marines then the Navy same day, the Army then the Air Force the next day. 1968 flunked the draft physical, no middle ear in my left ear, I wanted a career.

Got drafted in 1970.  Yep, I was one of the lucky ones who "won" the draft lottery.
After Basic and AIT, spent almost 13 months in Vietnam at the US Army Mortuary caring for our fallen and helping repatriating them back home.
