Hey does anyone have any ideas on fishing fluctuating water levels? We received a ton of rain for days and filled the resevoirs and now they are rapidly pulling the water almost 4' in three days. Would you fish the points with rigs and tubes? Or would you be cranking? Any help would be appreciated.

Hi JW....welcome to Ultimate Bass.......fluctuating water levels and temps are always a anglers worst nightmare from the pros down.....when I fishing in water thats  fluctuating I always look for ambush points......Rock walls.... trees... docks.... creek channels....any structure is an ideal target......One thing is always certain Bass will be on points if the water is rising....one of the best lures.....IMO is the spinnerbait when fishing rising water levels....

another good place to try is newly flooded timber...there will be sufficient insects and crawfish available...you can use a jig in these areas and topwaters work fairly well for me......

when the water is receding...you need to look to off shore.... for humps... little ditches.... that may be in 10-15 ft of water any cover...in deep water off shore.....when the water is falling...a crank bait or spinner bait 3/4 oz or larger is good..... if the water is stained or muddy due to the rising and falling....use a colorado blade so it makes a good noise...some times you need to make 2 or 3 cast in the same place so the bass has time to find the lure

I am sure there will be others that will help you......good luck in those fluctuating waters hope this helps you.....thanks for coming by Ultimate Bass...we are glad you came by...we would love to have you as a member of this great family.......
