Well, I went back to Sahoma lake again today, and I must say, I had a good time on the water. I got to the ramp at around noon and took off to the southwest end of the lake. I dropped the trolling motor and started throwing a white/chartreuse spinnerbait to the edges of a grass bed, and on the fourth cast, as soon as the lure hit the water it was eaten by a 3lb LM bass. after that I noticed the bass were backing into the grass mats to get some shade (it was 98 here today), so I rigged a 4" bleeding bait tube (pearl pepper)with a 1 1/2oz sinker and started busting the mats. My second flip was rewarded by a 2lb 4oz largemouth. I ended up with 5 bass today, but I left the camera in my truck, and I was having way too much fun to go and get it. I also caught 2 small crappie on a 1/4oz roadrunner W/white grub body. I had equipment malfunctions though ~xyz, my garcia eon has a gear problem now, so I'll have to tear into it to see what's wrong.

I was on the water for about 3 hours and was getting ready to go back to the boat ramp, when it occurred to me that I don't know how fast my boat is. well, I decided to try it out and was pleasantly surprised. My spedometer said I was going 58mph (I doubt it was that fast, will check it later with a GPS)and my rpm at WOT was right at 6000. this was with 1/2 tank of gas and all my gear. I hope my speedometer isn't that far off, or else I'll have to replace it.

Anyway the tally ended up at: 3lb1oz, 2lb 4oz, 4lb 9oz, 1lb 14oz, and 1lb 1oz, plus 2 crappie that were about 6 inches long, and a broken reel. I am planning on going again in the morning as soon as the boys are off to school, unless I have to go into work.

Good report snapper340!!!  If the temp was 98 degrees,, how warm was the water?   Are you dealing with post spawn fish only in your area or are their some fish still on the beds there.

Great fishing report....Snapper...looks like you were into the fish...
are the bass still on the nest or is the spawn over in that lake.....
looks like they have just about got through down in my area of the world........

the bass were finishing up with the spawn, so some were still on beds, while others headed for cover. as far as water temp, I don't know, my fish finder doesn't have surface temp on it. I'm guessing the water temp was around 75 degrees. the bass on beds wouldn't even look at a t-rigged lizard, I guess it was too hot. I plan on going later today, we had a cold front pass through last night, and I need the practice. this time I'll try to remember the camera.

Me and my boys went back to Sahoma today for about 3 hrs. we got there at 5:00 pm and fished until 7:30 pm. I had alot of short strikes on a chartreuse/green diamond shad. caught one that weighed about 1lb 2oz on the diamond shad on a main point on the north end of the lake in about 5 feet of water. he was hiding sround the pilings of a duck blind. the water temp was 76 degrees and the cold front gave us a high temp of 74 degrees today. thats 24 degrees cooler than yesterday. nice day to be on the water, but the bass had a mild case of lockjaw. On a good note, I got my eon working again, it turned out to be line wrapped up on the spool shaft. BTW the KVD line conditioner I won from beaver trader is good stuff! the 2 reels I put it on cast so much better than before! If you dont have some get some, it's worth the money. will be going again soon, so be on the lookout for more updates.

Good report...I am hooked on the KVD line treatment....been using it since it hit the market
is pricey though but is is worth every penny.....I think I paid around * bucks for 4 oz.....

went to sahoma for about an hour last night with my boys. I was throwing a chartreuse/black back balsa-b outside grass beds and only caught 1 bass, that measured 14". the crankbait was the only thing that got bit. the weather was clear skies, 84 degrees at 9:00pm, light breeze 2-3mph with a steady barometer, water temp was 80degrees.

I went to sahoma last night with the family for catfish. we stayed for about 2 hrs and fished for about 1 1/2 hrs. we caught 2 channel cats that weighed around 3 lbs each. weather was clear skies, 89 degrees, wind from west at 6-10 mph water temp at 78 degrees. I was using dough bait (blood and shrimp). caught both fish at 6 feet on a large flat adjacent to the main creek channel. I will be going again later this evening for a few hrs, so I'll report later.
