~cf   Kate and I tried Clear Lake "One more time" on Monday.  We launched in Lakeport. Due to low water, the 5th Street ramp is the only safe and usable ramp left on the lake.  To make things more challenging, they are redoing the parking lots there so we have to drive a couple blocks to park in a vacant lot.  Water temp was 71.5 when we started and rose to 74 when we pulled out a little after noon.  We ran to Soda Bay and were greeted by a fairly stout NW wind.  It was fishable and I managed a decent keeper on a pearl Speed Trap from the side of the big rocks there.  Tried a couple other places but the wind was making fishing less than pleasant.  Move up the lake near Long Tule point, ended up running aground over 200 yards off shore.  Trimmed the motor up and had to hold the trolling motor up with the pull rope to get back out to deeper water.  Fortunately no damage.  Finally went south to a lilttle cove with less wind and caught a nice 4.7 pounder on a spinner bait, then followed it up with a 2.5 on a tube near some docks.  Kate is really getting better throwing a bait caster, but no luck for her.  We hit a few other places but but no luck so called it a day with just 3 fish.  By that time the lake was white capping and we had a 10 mile run, into the wind, back to the ramp.  The good news was the closer we got the more sheltered the lake was and the water was calmer.  I am really impressed with how dry our 2021 NItro Z19 rides and, it can run 50 mph in whitecaps without beating you up.  I think a lot is the well cushioned seats.  So many areas were high and dry, Hope we get decent rain this winter.  Posting a picture of completely dry canal at Kono Tayee.  Usually water is 5-6 feet deep in there.  I gotta say Clear Lake has been good to me this summer. Been there about 10 time and  in every trip but one, I have had at least one fish over 4 pounds, plus Kate and another friend have had 5 and 4 pound fish.
I knew I shoulda re-tied!!

Thanks for the great report about the lakes condition, just amazing to see how the canals don't have water in them. Sure hope Nor Cal has a good rainy season and a large snow pack to withstand the summer.
