Claytor Lake Debris Collection For 2021 Season

A total of 335 roll-off loads of debris. Here's a , shot from a drone, of some of the debris piles. What can be seen in the video is mostly wood and timber that washes into the lake. What's not shown in the video are the tires mounted on rims, propane tanks, fuel cans, lawn chairs, picnic benches, and docks, just to name a few of the things I see almost every year.

Wow... So is this over a span of time or something a barge went out and got?

I'm thinking there are a lot of brush piles / artificial reefs that could be made if a club and wildlife and fisheries got together :-*

We have one lake around here like that. Only safe to boat after a stretch of the same wind.

They have a barge with a machine that has salvage claw. that collects most of it. Boaters sometimes will retrieve items and leave on barge or it's dock. What you see in the video isn't everything.

Claytor is that way after heavy rain. It's the floaters right below the surface that you really have to fear. I've only hit one and fortunately I was trimmed up high enough that the pad was all that hit it and no damage.
