Taking my t-rigging skills to the next level. Couldn't pass up a Gambler lures sale, and picked up these ER 16's worms in bulk packs.

This should be fun!!

And your first bass will be a ten incher. Yup.

Try swimming that worm like a snake. That was the ticket in the 1980's.

That's the plan. ;)

On a similar note - I accidently bought a pack of Net Bait 15" C-Mac Ribbon Tail Worms (I thought I was buying a smaller size) ... I've never fished a ribbon tail that big / long before . I figure a 4/0 hook , a 3/16th oz. bullet weight and just work it slow along the bottom occasionally swimming it up a few feet then letting it drop down again will be where I start . A 15" ribbon tail is a big worm !

On those LONG worms I've been told you're supoosed to thread the hook about 3-4" down the worm before turning it back and tex-posing it. Is that correct?

This was my first thought too  ~roflmao I've fished giant baits thinking, "oooo... If I get a bite, SWING for the fence because it's going to be a GIANT." Poor ten inches goes flying  lo

But big bait do catch big fish ~c~ however never forget an elephant will also eat a peanut.

Bass don't have a mirror to see how small they may be - I've had 6" bass hit a 4" Rapala twitch bait before .

Always the case with me too.  ;D

So with big worms you need BIG Hooks. I decided to try out both of my favorite hook brands in a 7/0 size.

Capt. BassinLou

My only two, 15" bass on my last outing came off this 16" worm.  ~roflmao

You guys jinxed me!!  lo lo

I rigged the E16 with the 7/0 Owner hook, weightless.  Felt and saw the bass take the worm, gave the fish a moment to really take a hold of the worm and set the hook.

I was impressed with the E-16. If you swim it with a light tapping retrieve it undulates like a snake. After fishing it for a while, I can see why our bigger FL bass annihilate this worm.

Big worms catch these too!

I usually gauge the size of the worm hook to the diameter of the plastic worm itself ... For a standard Zoom 'Ol Monster worm I use a 4/0 size EWG or round bend offset worm hook - rule of thumb being a hook gap distance 2X the thickness of the worm . For a Berkley Powerbait 10" worm a 5/0 is better due to the thicker worm body these have . *Lastly , most of the time a bass eats a worm head first trying to kill it , so for big worms a 4/0 or 5/0 size offset hook is about all you need .
