Welcome back,

I went Saturday, fished until noon, but had to head home at that time.  Got on the lake at about 530, was 2 trnys going on, so lots of boats, memorial trnys I believe is what the sign said.  Water temps were in the high 70s, 80s up the river, visability about 6 feet, ambient temp when I left 102.  Threw top water until about 630 with not one taker.  Threw cranks..nada...blades...nothing but dinks.  for the entire day I caught between 15-20 fish, only one (2lbs) would have made it to the live well.  Drop shot'd for most of the rest of the day (lots of nibbles, believe they were bluegill as I managed to catch only one of the little buggers.).  Spoke with 3 different boats and the store manager and the story was the same.  Dink city.  Store manager said he caught a 2 lb early in the day, but not on what or where.  Plan on going again next saturday.  You interested?

Well that's my report...such as it was.  Hope it will be better in 2 weeks.

Stan, Dean and I went two weeks ago, stayed until 1400 and caught one keeper.  There was one tournament going when we went.  I was going to go this Saturday the 22nd but there is another tournament there.  Was thinking of going to Cachuma but not right at first light because there is a tourny there as well.  So not exactly sure what I will do.

I looked at the results from Anglers Choice a month ago and only one boat had a limit a Margarita and the winning team won with 12lbs.

It will be very tough, I would rather fish Lopez.

Stan

If you would rather fish Lopez you should go out and help Glenn and company for the open tournament and go fishing during the tournament.  I talked to him in the Walmart parking lot and they sure could use some help.  Told him that I just got back from Texas and hadn't had a chance to hit SM yet so I would be out there instead.

Well it is official, I am done with Vandy come 11 Sep and headed to Bolling AFB.  My wife is already there and she will be working at Bolling and I will be working at Andrews.  I might work in a couple more CA trips.  I didn't get a chance to fish with you all but I learned learned a lot from you guys just from this site.  Anyhow, CA turned out better than I thought, even though I don't know where my licenses money goes, I have to pay to go fishing, and there are lake hours.  My biggest bass came from Santa Margarita this past spring and my next biggest at Lopez.  Not bad for the clear water lakes I feared so much when I came out here.  Now I get to learn a tidal river.  I hope not to get stuck high and dry.  Well, I also have a couple of huddleston swinbaits that will not be used.  I bought for Casitas but never used them. If anyone wants them (free) let me know and I will get them to you.  I think the chain pickerel ("jacks" for you southern folks) and northern pike will rip them up out there.  Well, I am hoping to go back Barksdale AFB or San Antonio, TX next but we will see.

I hope to get back to Barksdale myself, but with the cuts we're seeing that probably won't happen.  Wish you could stay and fish more, but I will probably be leaving myself next May.  Hope I can catch my biggest this spring as well... my biggest Whitetail from Barksdale came in my last season there after hunting out there for 10 years prior, so maybe some luck will come my way???
