Urban canal Peacock Bass action

Testing out a finesse swimbait for hungry Peacock Bass and it worked!

I know all these canals and ditches run together. Just curious why we haven't heard of Peas in the lakes? Is it a current issue? I know a lot of those canals are dead ends and don't have much current...

Tx Mike. Our canals are not dead ends, and have current. Not always, but they do have current. These canals are elaborate waterways that combat against flooding and eventually empty into the sea. Peacocks are plentiful in the hundreds of man made lakes we have down here in South FL. You may not hear much about them because these lakes are inside of gated communities.

I wonder how they haven't become significant in lakes like Big O? Seems like they could really hurt forage populations because of how aggressive they are.

Peacocks territory reach right up to the Northern End of South FL. I suspect they haven't moved farther North due to water temps in the winter. When water temps dip below a certain point for a sustained amount of time, Peacock's and host of other exotic fish die off like they did in our winter of 09.

Good question Steve. On this particular outing, I was using a faster retrieve simulating a flushed out bait fish paralleling a hydrilla line.
