there gets to be a period in the fall when the bass just focus on the little stuff.  and it's hard to buy a bite if you're 'over-sized'.

dont be telling everyone but the cheap berkely powerbaits flat work about that September "aint" time.  The goby and shad pattern will flat catch em here.  you may not catch bigs but youll catch a LOT of decent size with an occasional good'n stacked in there.  Plus, they are already rigged and ready for you, hook and all

however, i like the looks of those too!!

I like the Brats in shallower versions, they should work great in the deeper version as well..

Matching the hatch in the fall is vital too sustaining a pattern. As you already said they get so keyed in on one prey and it's almost impossible to fool them...

There was a time when crappie cranks were a secret weapon for Rick Clunn, there are times during the summer when the bite is tough and the answer is tiny cranks around shallow water.

Never forget the Rat L Trap-style baits in the fall. I hate them, but they flat find and catch bass, and the 1/2 ounce size is spot-on.

Casting and retrieving small spoos, 1/8, 1/4 Kastmasters and hopkins are good for bass schooling on small baitfish.
