HB 987SI for Mapping?

I am looking at a boat that has two older Humminbird 987 SI units installed. I am planning to purchase some newer Helix Units. My thought was to use the older units for GPS and mapping. Do they support LakeMaster Plus? Will the detail be comparable to what I have running that card on my Gen 1 Helix 9? I could always swap the 987's over to my other boat and kee; the Gen1s for mapping But if the result is the same, I could save myself some work.

Thank for the information Wayne. I stand corrected on the models also, they are 997 C SI units
